India: domestic prices
Sowing has expanded in northern parts of India, where much of the crop is irrigated. According to local sources, perhaps 65-70 percent of the anticipated final total for the region is now in the ground.
Asking prices for Shankar-6 are steady today at around ₹54,100 per candy (roughly 80.90 cents per lb), while Punjab J-34 has strengthened slightly to approximately ₹5,720 per maund (81.50 cents per lb).
Around one million bales are on offer at today’s CCI auction, including a small quantity from 2023/24. Floor prices for S-6 from Gujarat remain steady at ₹55,300 per candy.
Wednesday’s estimate of seed cotton arrivals is 20,600 lint equivalent bales, including 8,000 each from Maharashtra and Gujarat.
