Base price for auction increases by 66 yuan
The base price for sales during the current week (August 28 through September 1) is 14,489 yuan per tonne, up by 66 yuan from the previous week.
The quantity offered for sale today was 29,536 tonnes, comprising 14,796 in the first (morning) session, and 14,740 in the second (afternoon) session. Of the catalogue, Xinjiang cotton accounted for 17,887 tonnes, and the remainder was from other provinces (11,649 tonnes).
In today’s morning session, all lots on offer found buyers for the second consecutive day. The highest price paid was 15,910 yuan per tonne (for cotton from the 2012/13 season), up by 240 yuan from the previous day.
