Pakistan: PCGA seed cotton arrivals as at March 15

By March 15, seed cotton arrivals were equivalent to 14,785,795 local bales, according to data compiled by the Pakistan Cotton Ginners’ Association. The total represents an overall increase of over 10.5 percent in respect of the volume delivered by the same date a year earlier (13,369,627 bales).

In the first half of March, the fortnightly flow showed 79,942 bales arrived, compared with 40,960 during the same period of last year.

Of the cumulative total, 13,572,572 bales had been sold onward to textile mills, compared with 12,148,634 by the same date last year, together with 473,337 bales (369,673) to exporters and 94,900 (zero) bales to the Trading Corporation of Pakistan.

The stock (both pressed and unpressed) in ginners’ hands thus amounted to 644,986 bales, versus 851,320 a year earlier.

The end of next month should see an end to the by-monthly arrival reports and a  final seed cotton arrivals figure ascertained.

It is indicated that 112 ginning factories remain in operation, against 156 on March 1.
