Egypt: export sales and shipments
Alcotexa reports that 2,717 tonnes of Egyptian cotton were registered for export in the week to February 14, and 2,274 tonnes were shipped. Almost 2,400 tonnes were destined for India, and China and Pakistan also recorded moderate increases, though Vietnam’s total was reduced by 830 tonnes.
The total now committed to overseas customers in the 2025/26 marketing year is 40,964 tonnes, of which half have been shipped. The average price recorded for Giza 94 new crop supplies fell slightly to 145 cents per lb, FOB.
Catgo’s latest balance sheet shows that uncommitted stocks of all cotton have fallen to around 64,500 tonnes, representing 57 percent of the season’s supply. However, it is understood that a substantial quantity (perhaps 24,000 tonnes) controlled by the Ministry of Finance has been dedicated for use by public mills, thus reducing the amount now available for export.
