China: May import origins
As informed in Monday’s Beijing Report, raw cotton imports in May amounted to some 170,000 tonnes (the precise figure is 173,208 according to detailed customs data now to hand). The two major suppliers last month were the United States and India, with 60,061 and 52,525 tonnes, respectively. Arrivals from Brazil amounted to 37,757 tonnes, and African Franc Zone origins in aggregate contributed a further 11,769 tonnes.
