Withdrawal of the Cotlook NE Indices

Cotlook announces notice period for withdrawal of European cotton indices

For the past four years, the substantive Cotlook A Index has been based on C/F offers to main Far Eastern ports, to reflect the massive shift in trade towards Asian markets and the concurrent, further steep decline in Europe's primary cotton spinning sector.

Cotlook has continued during that period to monitor offers to European markets, and to calculate the Cotlook A (NE) Index, but now gives advance notice that 2007/2008 will be the last season in which such a value is published.

Hence, the Cotlook A (NE) value will run until July 31, 2008 but a forward Cotlook A (NE) value will not be introduced in the spring of next year. The Cotlook B (NE) will be withdrawn in the same way.
